UNESCO currently lists two World Heritage properties in Mauritius: Aapravasi Ghat and Le Morne Cultural Landscape. Aapravasi Ghat is associated with the emergence of the modern indentured-labour diaspora. These places should be experienced with historical context, not reduced to photo stops.
