Foreign couples can marry in Mauritius

Mauritius’ Civil Status Division publishes a formal process for two non-citizen/non-resident partners to marry on the island.

Plan documentation early

Official guidance says documents should be forwarded 6–8 weeks before the wedding, with the application reaching the Central Civil Status Office at least one month before the intended date.

Hotel ceremonies are possible

The government states that civil marriage may be celebrated at hotels or other private/non-private premises by a Civil Status Officer after the required publication process.

Make it a journey

Pair the ceremony with private lagoon time, spa days, Le Morne sunsets, food experiences or a Mauritius + Rodrigues honeymoon.

Wedding requirements can change and individual circumstances differ. Final legal requirements should always be confirmed directly with Mauritius’ Central Civil Status Office before booking.
